Registered delegates
and accompanying persons may also participate in a unique party
at the Hilton Buenos Aires Hotel located in Puerto Madero.Puerto
Madero is a neighborhood of Buenos Aires which occupies a significant
portion of the Río de la Plata riverbank.
It is therefore the first neighborhood to be seen from the river
and probably the first portion of land to be occupied during Buenos
Aires foundation back in XVI century. Many years later, in the
1930s, port facilities were relocated to Puerto Nuevo, the ("new
port"), 1 km to the north, and most of the older brick warehouses
were all but abandoned. In the 1990s, local and foreign money was
invested in a massive regeneration effort, recycling the west side
warehouses into lofts and restaurants, and adding some new hotels
and office buildings, mostly in the east side. A new marina was
built in Dock 1, the northernmost dock. In the 2000s the process
continued, and more hotels, office and apartment buildings, both
low-rise and high- rise have been built. Currently more buildings
are under construction in the east side, including the Repsol-YPF
tower by Cesar Pelli and a mixed use complex by Foster and Partners,
the latter part of Faena's Porteño Art District.
We intend
to show a blend of Buenos Aires´s local traditions
and modern trends. It is certainly not casual that the 21st WCD
has chosen Puerto Madero to host the Official Closing Party. Here,
you will have the chance to walk around the oldest streets in town
and admire the newest architecture. We will offer several shows
that have been set up by Argentine leading dancer, Mora Godoy,
the head of a profound renovation in the tango music scene.

Presentation of the invitation badge will be required to access
the Congress Evening area in Puerto Madero.
As tickets
are limited, it is advisable to purchase them in advance in the
Registration Area. Please check the corresponding box on the registration
form and pay the required fee if you wish to participate.
All participants who have purchased
their Closing Party tickets at the Registration Desk must exchange
them at the Social Events Desk for the corresponding badges and
Party Programs, before Thursday, October 4, at 12:00 h.
Transportation
will be provided from the Sheraton Buenos Aires Hotel (Congress
Headquarters).
